  • Erin McKiernan

    Erin McKiernan, Director, Programs & Strategies

    Erin McKiernan is a prominent open science advocate and practitioner. She previously served as the Community Manager for the Open Funders Research Group (ORFG). Erin is also a neurophysiologist who has been a professor in the Department of Physics, Biomedical Physics Program at the National Autonomous University of Mexico in Mexico City since 2015. She has a B.A. in Psychology, and both a M.S. and Ph.D. in Physiological Sciences, all from the University of Arizona.

  • Greg Tananbaum

    Greg Tananbaum, Executive Director

    Among his career highlights, Greg has had founding and senior leadership roles with Open Research Funders Group (ORFG); the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s Roundtable on Aligning Incentives for Open Scholarship; the Higher Education Leadership Initiative for Open Scholarship (HELIOS); the Alliance for Open Scholarship (All4OS); and bepress. Greg holds a Master's Degree from the London School of Economics and a B.A. from Yale University.

  • Denisse Albornoz

    Denisse Albornoz

    Denisse Albornoz is a technology researcher and practitioner. Her work promotes access to knowledge and technology from a justice and equity lens. She has worked with international research and non-profit organisations developing programs to advance digital rights and knowledge equity, including the Centre for Internet and Society (India), Hiperderecho (Peru) and Tactical Tech (Germany). She is a Fellow at the Knowledge Equity Lab and is currently based at the Royal Society, the National Academy of Science of the UK.

  • Upal Basu Roy

    Upal Basu Roy

    Dr. Upal Basu Roy, PhD, MPH, is the Executive Director at LUNGevity Research where he spearheads LUNGevity’s Translational Research Programs and Patient-Focused Research Center (Patient FoRCe). He has extensive experience in community-based participatory research (CBPR) methodology, specifically in projects involving immigrants and minority populations. Dr. Basu Roy has a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Arizona, and an MPH in Global Health Policy and Management from New York University.

  • Joy Owango

    Joy Owango

    Joy Owango is the founding Director of the Training Centre in Communication (TCC Africa), the first African-based training centre to teach effective communication skills to scientists. TCC Africa is in partnership with and housed at the University of Nairobi, Kenya, and provides capacity support in improving African researcher's output and visibility through scholarly and science communication. Joy currently serves on the Steering Committee of the Research Organization Registry (ROR) and the International Science Council's project on the future of scientific publishing.

  • Esther Plomp

    Esther Plomp

    Esther Plomp is a Data Steward (Delft University of Technology) and Open Science Community Member (The Turing Way, OLS, IsoArcH) based in the Netherlands. In these roles, Esther facilitates a more equitable way of knowledge generation, encouraging others to working more transparently. Her expertise includes a wide array of subjects including Open Science, Research Data Management, Open Data, and the FAIR principles. Esther studied Archaeology at Leiden University and holds a PhD in Isotope Archaeology.

  • Dawid Potgieter

    Dawid Potgieter

    Dawid Potgieter is a Consultant for philanthropic and research organizations. He focuses on the intersection between scientific research and organizational management, with a keen interest in promoting equitable revenue models. Taking a hands-on approach from strategy to execution, Dawid has developed and managed high-stakes research portfolios featured in publications like the Financial Times, Economist, and Bloomberg. He holds a DPhil from the University of Oxford and an MBA from the University of Cambridge.

  • Jylana Sheats

    Jylana Sheats

    Jylana L. Sheats, PhD, MPH is an applied behavioral scientist and Clinical Associate Professor at Tulane University School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine. Described as a boundary spanner, she leads and advises on research and initiatives across sectors that aim to change behaviors, improve health outcomes, and/or address society's most wicked problems. As the Associate Director of the Aspen Institute Science & Society Program, Jylana advocates for global science, public trust in science, and social justice.

  • Rita Teutonico

    Rita Teutonico

    Dr. Rita Teutonico is Dean of Research for the College of Arts, Science & Education at Florida International University. She leads the Research Development office, which assists with over $100M of competitive proposals annually. Dr. Teutonico was previously State Director for Utah EPSCoR, where she coordinated the state-wide Research Infrastructure Improvement program. She also served for over 12 years at the National Science Foundation, where she held many senior level positions and led numerous cross-agency initiatives. She has a PhD from University of Pennsylvania and BS from Cornell University.
